Book Review
Bicycling Lorain County, Ohio
A Guide for Where to Ride
By Edward Stewart
Cycling Ohio’s goal is to provide information about bicycling in the state of Ohio.
Bicycling Lorain County, Ohio (a guide for where to ride) is the most comprehensive book I’ve seen concerning bicycling in Lorain County. It is 124 pages in length, and has a retail price of 17.95
There are more than 50 routes with maps varying from few miles in length to several over 50 miles. Also included are bike trails, bike lanes, and routes in the metro parks of Lorain County. The author also includes detailed information about each metro park. Each route has a map, total mileage for the route, and a list of directions. A nice feature is that each route’s map and directions are on one page, which makes it easy to copy, allowing the cyclist to take just one page, not an entire book.
Yet, the book is not just about routes, but also includes information on bicycle laws for the state of Ohio, trail etiquette, how to transport your bicycle, and info on riding with children. Also, included are resources such as; bicycle shops, bicycle clubs, and map sources. The author’s writing clear, relatively detailed, yet he writes with humor, which always makes reading more interesting.
I would recommend this book to anyone who lives in or around Lorain County.
